Freelance professionals now make up 35 percent of all U.S. workers. That’s an increase of 2 million over the past two years, with 63 percent saying they started freelancing by choice, not by necessity. Leading the charge is Bobbi Brown, founder of the global makeup brand. As she launches her new lifestyle and wellness concept, justBOBBI, she isn’t shy about sharing just who she wants by her side.

“I’ll be hiring a lot of freelancers,” Brown says. “I need people who can do more than one thing.”

The freelancer-turned-mogul says the self-employed tend to make exceptional employees. Freelancers, Brown says, have a wide variety of experience and hiring them decreasing overhead and increases productivity and flexibility.
